Are you someone who is creative at heart but tends to ignore you creative intuition because life gets in the way? Do you love to try new things but often find any excuse not to do them? Are you tired of the daily hustle and want to get back to doing whatever it is that brings you joy? Then welcome to Creative by Trade – you’re in good company.
My name is Mary and I’m so glad you’re here.
I am a creative sharing her journey of capturing joy and expanding my lived experience through trial and error. By sharing my thoughts and ideas, I hope to support and encourage other women who are just as curious as I am about leaning into creativity as a daily practice.
Over the years I learned that modern corporate life is not for me and I actually don’t want to be part of the rat race. And I *finally* realized that’s okay. I’d rather follow my curious mind and live life on my own terms. I still have a 9 to 5 job (girls’ gotta eat), but I no longer want my day job to be the primary reflection of my identity.
Creativity is a powerful tool. It can be wielded to enhance your life in a myriad of ways – build confidence, learn new skills, connect with others, start your own business and most importantly, do more of what makes you happy. I started Creative by Trade to record my creative journey and build a community of women who wish to reclaim their life through the creative process.

Creativity is taking action on your curiosity.
With that being said, what can you expect from Creative by Trade?
Come to Creative by Trade for inspiration, community, and joy. We will explore new hobbies, projects, goals, careers, books, random musings, and anything else I come up with. You can expect transparency in my creative process, practical advice, reflections on lessons learned and a touch of whimsy.
My first piece of advice: we do not need to master or perfect a craft in order to be “successful” creatives. I’d rather we ask ourselves: Did you do it? Did you enjoy it? Did you try something new and maybe learn something about your self? If so, then you are a successful creative. Let’s focus on creating for the joy of creating. No more, no less, and certainly no expectations.
It’s about time we take ourselves less seriously so we can freely practice creativity while enjoying all the lovely little things life has to offer. Here is what I propose: let’s take action on our curiosity together. I know there is plenty of delight to be found.
