When it comes to books, I always have a list on my phone of upcoming releases I cannot wait to read. My list even contains 2026 release dates – heaven forbid I forget! When I’m able, I like to pre-order my most anticipated reads from a local bookstore. I like to think this helps the author, but also my day is instantly made when I receive a book in the mail. If you are a bit of a book dragon like myself, or if you are interested in dipping your toes into the proverbial reading pond, below are ten books coming out in 2025 that I am impatiently waiting to read.

The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig
Release Date: May 20
Genre: Romantasy
A gothic tale of a prophetess who is forced beyond the safety of her cloister on an impossible quest to defeat the gods with the one knight whose future is beyond her sight. Rachel has become an instant read author for me. If this story is anything like The Shepherd King duology, we are in for quite a treat!

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Release Date: June 3
Genre: Literary Fiction
An epic new novel set against the backdrop of the 1980s space shuttle program, about the extraordinary lengths we go to live and love beyond our limits. This will be the fifth TJR book on my shelf. I love her writing style and how unique each story is. I have a feeling this will be a favorite summer read.

Rose in Chains by Julie Soto
Release Date: July 2
Genre: Romantasy
A lush romantic fantasy that’s filled with intrigue, magic, and an irresistible enemies-to-lovers romance. I have not yet read a book by Julie Soto, but I have heard nothing but great things about Not Another Love Song and Forget Me Not (both on my TBR). But also, if there is an enemies-to-lovers trope, sign me up.

Accomplice to the Villain (Book #3) by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
Release Date: August 5
Genre: (Comedic) Romantasy
I saw this series described as Once Upon a Time meets The Office and it couldn’t be more spot on. If you have not yet read Assistant to the Villain and Apprentice to the Villain, do yourself a favor and go pick them up from your library today. I laughed my way through the first two books and cannot wait to pick up where the story left off.

The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown
Release Date: September 9
Genre: Thriller
Part of the Robert Langdon series, a thrilling race through the dual worlds of futuristic science and mystical lore, Robert uncovers a shocking truth about a secret project that will forever change the way we think about the human mind. We haven’t had a new Robert Langdon novel since 2017. Too long if you ask me. The mix of science and history is always fascinating to me.

Alchemised by SenLinYu
Release Date: September 30
Genre: Dark Fantasy
A woman with missing memories fights to survive a war-torn world of necromancy and alchemy — and the man tasked with unearthing the deepest secrets of her past. What started out as fan-fiction has been adapted into its own story. I was lucky enough to read the fan-fiction version when it was available and you bet I will be reading the adaptation as well.

The Ballad of Falling Dragons (Book #2) by Sarah A. Parker
Release Date: October 7
Genre: Romantasy
We don’t have a cover or synopsis just yet, but if you’ve read When The Moon Hatched, you know that reading the next book in the Moonfall series is a must. The only hint we have is to prepare for more danger, magic, romance, and dragons. All things I’m willing to wait for.

Mate by Ali Hazelwood
Release Date: October 7
Genre: Paranormal Romance
A Human hybrid and an Alpha Were claw against the bonds of fate in the highly anticipated companion novel to the New York Times bestselling Bride. Ali is another instant read author for me. I highly recommend you pick up any of her books. She also released Deep End in February and is releasing a contemporary romance, Problematic Summer Romance, in May.

Books of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts by Margaret Atwood
Release Date: November 4
Genre: Autobiography
“Every writer is at least two beings: the one who lives, and the one who writes. Though everything written must have passed through their minds, or mind, they are not the same.” Based on this quote, her other thought-provoking books, and the fabulous look she is wearing on this cover, I am hooked and ready to learn more about her surely fascinating life.

Brimstone (Book #2) by Callie Hart
Release Date: November 18
Genre: Romantasy
A darkness falls across Yvelia. The realm and their friends are in danger. Together, Saeris and Fisher will pass through fire and brimstone to save them. Please, if you have not read the first book in the Fae and Alchemy series go do so immediately. It’s called Quicksilver and you will not be disappointed.
